					<description><![CDATA[My Uncle who is from Jamaica, WI., would always come to our house on New Years Eve and make this dish with rice (Hopping John ?). I always loved Black-eyed peas, so I make them all times of the year. I especially like them during the seasonal transition from Winter to Spring (like now). I have a crock-pot full of them smelling just wonderful. I am going on a minimal meat diet for the next month and wanted to use beans for protein, this recipe came just in time. Thanks so much for the recipe. I have never used Thyme or Paprika in my beans (bay leaves and cilantro at the end), but the aroma is intoxicating. Keeping the windows closed, as the aroma would mean a line at the door and I&#039;m not in a sharing mood! Maybe next time.]]></description>
