Juicy, Messy, BIG!
Well you all know who Big Goo is by now. If you’ve been following my blog, I speak about Big Goo all the time.
He’s my meat-loving, veggie-hiding, Sausage Burgers eating hubby of 20 years.
I wanted to do something really nice for Big Goo after our “issues” the other day with the Pasta with Roasted Butternut Squash and Andouille Sausage.
The way to Big Goo’s heart is through his stomach! This is just the way it is with Big Goo. He loves food probably more than me. He for sure loves meat more than me.
And this leads me to today, Big Goo wanted a burger and he straight up told me, he’s not talking about my Creole Turkey Burgers. The nerve of him!
Big Goo said he wanted a big, juicy, beefy, and messy burger with some homemade Thousand Island dressing. OK, I am going to give in, it’s a first, but I will do it.
I decided to make Big Goo not only a beefy, juicy, burger, but I decided to add something else to the burger to kick it up a lot!
I added Big Goo’s other favorite meat, PORK FAT! I added some hot Johnsonville Italian Sausage to the burgers.
Look at the crust that formed on this burger, this happens because I seasoned the outside of the burger then placed it seasoned side down on the hot cast iron pan, delicious!
You know the veggies were my idea. I told Big Goo, eat the burger, but you still have to eat the veggies.
Can anyone say GOT CHEESE!
Let’s just say, Big Goo is one happy man today! And yes he loves him some Jarritos soda.
Big Goo’s Sausage Burger with Homemade Spicy Thousand Island Dressing
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 14 minutes
Total Time: 24 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef 80/20, grass fed
1/2 lb Johnsonville Italian sausage
4 hamburger buns
1 tbsp. creole seasoning
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. onion powder
1/2 tbsp. black pepper
1/2 tbsp. smoked paprika
thousand island dressing (recipe below)
lettuce
tomato
cheese
For the Spicy Thousand Island Dressing:
1 c. Hellmann’s Mayonnaise
2 tbsp. sambal
1 tbsp. sriracha
1 tbsp. ketchup
1 tbsp. relish
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. creole seasoning
Directions:
Mix all dressing ingredients together, chill until ready to use.
Remove sausage from casing and place into a large bowl, add ground beef, mix the seasoning and reserve 2 teaspoons, add the remaining seasonings to burger meat and mix well.
Form burgers into balls and flatten with hands to get a perfect round. Season both sides of formed burgers with reserved seasoning.
In a hot skillet over medium heat add oil, place burgers in skillet and fry about 6-7 minutes per side, until desired doneness is achieved. Top with cheese, cover pot with lid until cheese melts.
Assemble burger by lightly toasting bun in a little butter, top bun with dressing, place lettuce, tomatoes, burger, top bun and eat!

I am laughing all the way to the store to get the sausage. The Thousand Island alone sounds lucious! What a great chef you are. Wonder what would happen if we totalled up the fat grams? We might tilt the scale!

OH NO Tumbleweed, we can’t do that, LOL…That’s why I cut the burger in four pieces and eat just one, well sometimes I cut the burger in four pieces and eat just one. LOL

Made this last night, but old eyes didn’t see hot Italian sausage, so I bought mild which turned out great as well. Husband and I both loved it!

I’ve made the sauce twice already and am making it a third time now to send out on the semi with my husband for him and the other drivers…they’re gonna LOVE it.My daughter(11)loves it too…good n spicy but not rediculously hot~a new family favorite~thanks for sharing 🙂
