Ah…the taste of a Shirley Temple drink brings back such fond childhood memories!
I love a fruity drink and my revamped Orange Creamsicle Shirley Temple hits the spot.
I’ve taken my love of the Shirley Temple which traditionally is Sprite or 7-up mixed with cherry grenadine syrup, topped off with maraschino cherries and I’ve turned it into a creamsicle version.
Remember the creamy bars that were very popular back in the day?
Well, that’s one of my other favorite things!
You have the orange mixed with the vanilla and it’s delicious.
I decided to use orange soda and mix it with cream soda, topped off with a splash of grenadine and don’t forget the cherries!
Bottle sodas are best for this because most contain real sugar.
I feel bottle drinks also bring in a little extra nostalgia to the party!
I rimmed my glasses prior to adding the sodas with Zulka Morena Pure Cane Sugar that was dyed with a little orange food coloring.
It gives the glass a bit of whimsy!
I used big canning glass because my family prefers to drink out of the canning jars because they keep your beverages cold longer.
Pour in the orange and cream soda.
Put in a splash of grenadine.
I used about 1/2 tablespoon to my 32 ounce glass.
Lastly, top off with cherries and a splash of cherry juice if desired.
Add sliced oranges and ice and a cute cherry/orange garnish.
Enjoy!

What a great idea! I always loved and still love Shirley Temples and Roy Rodgers. I also love that sugar, just finished our first bag. It’s great in coffee. Glass bottles also taste better, they don’t leave an aftertaste. I never knew the canning jars keep the drinks colder. We love ours extra cold here. Can you freeze the glasses? My dad always did that for his sodas but here I’m afraid of the glass falling out with our 5, 3, and 1 year old trying to get in the fridge and freezer all the time.
Thanks Tanya! I am not sure if you’re supposed to freeze the jars but I do anyway, lol!
